The heir of Antonini Milano plans to win over The Couture Show in Vegas this year with collections that play with color, tradition and meaningful symbolism.
As the creative director of a brand based in the capital of fashion and design, it’s no wonder that Sergio Antonini’s inspiration is characterized by a sophisticated and innovative idea of luxury. The heir of Antonini Milano, founded in 1919, is a design graduate from the Polytechnic University of Milan, a Gemological Institute of America (GIA) gemologist, and an award-winning jeweler.
Antonini represents the story and heritage of Milan: His showroom is inside the Borromeo Palace, decorated with 15th-century frescoes in an area that saw the birth of the first medieval goldsmith guilds. Here he discusses the collections that will be showcased at The Couture Show in Las Vegas in June.
What is your source of inspiration?
I’m driven by the joie de vivre, a return to colors and the desire to arouse the interest of the young generations and to inspire them.
What gemstones do you work with?
Diamonds are always the best. I use F-color diamonds both in ready-to-wear and one-of-a-kind collections. Yet, since the pandemic, I enjoy using colored gemstones. I love green and emeralds are very strong and powerful. My motto is back to colors and green vibes for everybody!
Which collections are you presenting at Couture in June?
Firstly, we will showcase our Anniversary 100 collection, because it represents our heritage and reflections on time. The main theme is the symbol of infinity, a figure of eight on its side, which signifies eternity, the Greek apeiron, and means unlimited – an eternal possibility of starting again and a circular vision of life.
In the Anniversary 100 necklace we can appreciate these connecting tips that mark the passing of time. It is essential to remember that time runs inexorably but the roots and love for tradition are a new starting point in our global vision.
We will also present our new Lucca collection rings, named after the famous town in Tuscany. Three elements – the blue sky, the green shoots of the plants and the typical brown roofs of Lucca – are the topics of this line. Topaz, green amethyst and smoky quartz combine harmoniously with white gold and white diamonds. Other variants are pink gold with brown diamonds and yellow gold with brown diamonds.
Finally, the Toi et Moi collection is composed of joyful earrings and rings, each piece highlighting a pair of faceted round-cut stones of different sizes and colors. This includes smoky quartz and rose gold; London blue topaz and black rhodium-plated white gold; green amethyst and natural satin white gold; and purple amethyst and rose gold.
