Lab president Angelo Palmieri will take the audience through the grading center and discuss how the merger between the two companies is opening up doors for jewelers via revolutionary AI technologies.
After equipment manufacturer Sarine merged with the Gem Certification & Assurance Lab (GCAL) earlier this year to form GCAL by Sarine, Angelo Palmieri became president of the new entity. In the second episode of a Rapaport Instagram Live series sponsored by Sarine, Palmieri will explain how artificial-intelligence (AI) diamond grading will impact the US market. There will also be a live demonstration of the AI Color Grading and AI Clarity Grading machines, offering a rare opportunity to witness the AI grading technology at work.

The son of GCAL founders Don and Pamela Palmieri, he has played a critical role in the lab’s advancement, spearheading several initiatives — among them the development of the GCAL 8X cut grade, the introduction of digital certificates, and the integration of high-resolution imaging and video technology into the lab process.
The IG Live will give the audience a chance to learn more about artificial intelligence and transparency. It will also let retailers and suppliers ask questions about how to stand out in a competitive environment, and address the importance of grading accuracy in maintaining consumer trust.
